Coming Out as a Non Voter

I don’t understand why so many people are insistent on voting.  It’s almost cultish.  The cult of subservience.  “Choose a ruler!  It’s a privilege and right!  Not everyone gets to pick who fucks them over!”  Yeah, well not everyone deserves my vote.

It’s literally the same shit.  Red wins, we get wars.  Blue wins, we get trannies.  Both colors send your money to Israel.  Two sides of the same coin, progressing in the same direction.  Either way, debt goes up.  More rules.  More surveillance. They can come in different ways, but it’s the same.  You can have pizza or pasta for dinner.  When you get sick of pizza, we have pasta.  We you get sick of pasta, we go back to pizza.  Either way you’re eating shitty conventional fortified flour.

It also bothers me when people say that we live in a democracy.  We, in fact, do not live in a democracy, but a democratic republic.  Democracy itself isn’t that great.  Some call it “mob rules.”  A favorite quote is Osho’s explanation, “Democracy basically means: Government by the people, of the people, for the people, but the people are retarded.”  He hit the nail on the smooth brained head with that one.  I walk around, seeing miserable people making terrible decisions for their own lives and they’re supposed to have a say on how I live my life?  Yeah, no thanks.

I voted for Trump the second and third times he rain.  The second time he ran was the first time I ever voted.  I was a fan.  I liked his platform.  America first, end infinity immigration, “drain the swamp,” no new wars.  He started to lose me with the whole Covid thing.  Not here to debate it, but in my opinion the whole thing was a joke.  I don’t think he should’ve gone along with it.  The whole “Trump Vaccine” “Operation Warpspeed.”  That was a red flag for me.  My mom, an ardent Trump supporter was able to justify it, “He had to do it, he didn’t have a choice!”  Ok, then why?  Haven’t heard a good answer.  Anyway, I let it go.

But I look around and we got none of what was campaigned on.  We have more debt, Epstein’s BFFs are his inner circle and the worst war yet.  Wasn’t the point of Operation Midnight Hammer to takeout Iran’s nuclear program?  Didn’t Trump tout that as a success?  If we’re going after unsanctioned nuclear programs, maybe we should look at the unofficial 51st state.

The funniest and surprisingly common response I get when I voice this opinion is “Oh so you think Kamala would have been better?”  No, please show me where I said that.  She would have brought on a different, but probably overlapping, slew of problems.  Although the accelerationist in me is like “yes, what would have happened if Kamala won.”

I also think of the George Carlin quotes, “if voting made a difference, they wouldn’t let you do it.”  I haven’t read 1984 in a while, but were the proles required to vote?

Putting any hope or faith in a politician seems like a waste of energy.  The people drawn to those positions in the majority of cases are entirely self serving.  Look at our local politicians.  Tania Fernandes Anderson, Rachel Rollins, Steven Tompkins, Kendra Lara, Ricardo Arroyo Ayanna Pressley.  There is something obvious in this list that I will refrain from pointing out.

I just don’t want to put my attention on these people.  Whoever gets in, is a loser in my book.  “I know you’re not happy with the republicans, but they’re the lesser evil!”  Do you listen to yourself?  Are you telling me to vote for evil?  Because that’s what it sounds like.  The people worth voting for get outbid.  Thomas Massie, James Fishback.

The whole modern day obsession with consent thing is weird to me.  But I do feel like voting gives my consent.  I voted for Trump, so I feel somewhat responsible for the mistakes he’s making.  By not voting, I’m not agreeing to the bullshit perpetuated by either side.

I say this as someone who is more civically active than most.  I actively work with the city on a variety of issues and try to come to agreeable solutions and have been successful.  I know my city councilors and they know me.  I know my state representatives and they know me.  I know the mayor, but she probably doesn’t know me because I assume white people all look the same to her.  To me, being actively involved is way more important than checking a box.

Part of my issue is the importance that so many people put on politics.  Refusing to be friends with people on the other side is ridiculous to me.  If anything, that would stifle any potential for progress.  It seems like this weird virtue that people have.  I could be wrong, but it seems more common on the liberal side of things.  I’ve had way more people tell me they cut out Trump supporting friends/family than the opposite.

At the end of the day, people (politicians included) will do whatever they want. All I can control is what I do, so that’s my primary focus.

Anyway, here I am coming out as a non voter.  Keep your ballots, keep your politicians.  I’m just going to get up, make coffee and take my dog out for a walk.  Somebody else can spend their time fawning over some politifag that actually hates them.  Not me though.
