“Coffee is the common man’s gold, and like gold, it brings to every person the feeling of luxury and nobility.”

Then Coffee

December 09, 2016 by William Charleton in Herbs, Recipes, Health

I'm a huge coffee fan.  I love it, but I am sensitive to it.  I only drink coffee in the morning, and never more than 2 cups.  Otherwise I can get over-stimulated.

I usually make a huge tonic elixir in the morning,  Not today.  I need to re-order!  So here's a recipe for a minimal Herbal Bulletproof Coffee.  Here's how I do it:

When I get home, or a few hours before I go to bed, I'll take my pot, and light it.

Just kidding, I'll take my pot and add about a tablespoon of chaga dust and a tablespoon of prepared he shou wu chips.  Then I'll add 2-3 cups of water.

I like to let it sit for a little before turning the heat on.  I think it's important not to immediately put it on high heat.  After sitting for 15 minutes or so, I'll turn the heat on.

I bring the water to a boil or there about, and then turn the heat off.  Done for the night.

Next morning, I'll wake up and bring the water to a boil.  While that's happening, I'll grind beans.

Ground beans go into the French Press.  I try to pour the decoction, leaving the plant material in the pot.

I'll have it sit until it's cool enough to drink.

I put a tablespoon of ghee, a tablespoon of coconut oil, a pinch of salt and like half a tablespoon of honey in the blender.  Coffee goes in, lid goes on, blending occurs.

And BAM! you're good to go!
